AACL Board of Directors
Scott is a parent serving as Board President. He uses his expertise as a software engineer for Apple Inc., as a writer of educational software, and as a co-founder of a private preschool to guide the group in various aspects of school startup, with an emphasis on technology.
Kevin is a parent serving as Board Vice President. He has over 15 years of experience in the environmental consulting and advisory field as an environmental scientist, senior consultant, and division manager. His experience has included advising financial and investment companies, lending institutions, and industries in the areas of environmental risk management, liabilities, compliance, and remediation. He has served as a satellite office manager for a national environmental/geotechnical corporation and as an environmental department manager for a national environmental consulting firm. Kevin’s experience also includes service as a business advisor to a non-profit environmental outreach program and a sustainably-focused startup company.
Alan is a parent serving as Board Treasurer. He lends his expertise with non-profits and parent coordination, as well as his lab safety background, to financial, communication, and science aspects of the school.
Julie is a parent serving as Board Secretary. She has experience with twice-exceptional children, has worked in the non-profit and environmental fields, and currently volunteers with various organizations, including scouting and the League of Women Voters.
Gayle Staton is a parent serving as a Board Member. Her degrees are in Anthropology, with a background in academia and field work. She has practical experience with twice-exceptional children, public and private schools and homeschooling.
Andy is a parent serving as a Board Member. He has practical experience working with gifted and twice-exception children. He enjoys spending time with his family and is heartened by the niche that AACL will fill in the community. Andy works with satellite systems as a contractor for the Air Force and as a Colorado Army National Guard officer.
Stephanie is a community representative serving as a Board Member. She has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and she brings her public accounting experience at BKD, LLP in working with not-for-profits and governments to the Board. Stephanie has a passion for working for children and seeing that they have the opportunity and resources to explore and grow both educationally and individually. She is also the chair for the Civic Engagement Committee of the Colorado Springs Chamber Rising Professionals.
